Structure
The Bachelor of Education (K-12) is a dual sector program (primary and secondary) and includes studies that will enable graduates to teach in all key learning areas, kindergarten to Year 6. The course also includes subjects (studied as a teaching major) that will enable graduates to teach in one secondary teaching area in years 7-12.
Students will study discipline subjects as required for a teaching major in their intended secondary teaching area. However, primary AND secondary discipline subjects will vary depending on the student’s chosen secondary teaching area (teaching major), as detailed in the sections below. Subject availability differs on each campus, with some subjects only available on-campus and/or on-line. This course can only be studied in mixed mode - a combination of on-campus and online subjects.
Initial teacher education students are required to pass both components of the personal Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) as part of the accreditation requirements of this course and before commencement of the final professional experience placement. Further information about the LANTITE including how to register can be found on the LANTITE website of https://teacheredtest.acer.edu.au/
