Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to critically analyse and validate various experimental techniques and processes as a means to producing design solutions;
2.
be able to critically evaluate ideas from various perspectives (designer, client and consumer) throughout the design process using prototyping, user testing, self-evaluation and critiquing;
3.
be able to research, design, develop and produce a resolved design outcome in the context of contemporary design practice;
4.
be able to apply the principles involved in design for a wide variety of outcomes including a sensitivity to environmental, cultural and ethical issues;
5.
be able to apply technical, creative and theoretical skills to take an idea from concept to production ready artwork; and
6.
be able to demonstrate an understanding of a broad range of design options and associated skills and their application in design.

Equivalent knowledge to VPA104, VPA105 or GRP118Students are assumed to have a capacity to produce independent content in a range of media forms and industry standard software before entering this project-driven subject.
