Overview

Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine graduates will:

  • practise independently to give safe, high quality and culturally responsive person-centred care;
  • ensure a commitment to the health and wellbeing of individual patients and society through professional and ethical practice;
  • communicate clearly, effectively, empathetically and appropriately with patients, their families or carers, and other members of the patient’s healthcare team to ensure effective shared care which is safe, high-quality and person-centred;
  • engage in evidence-based practice and reflect critically to identify, plan and implement their ongoing professional learning needs with the objective of continuous improvement; and
  • provide safe, effective and high-quality professional services which protect patients, others and the environment from harm, and mitigate risk through continuous quality assurance.

Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:

Charles Sturt University Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine graduates will demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attributes a podiatrist needs to practise independently, including the safe and effective use of medicines, and the capability to provide safe, high quality and culturally responsive person-centred care.
2.
Charles Sturt University Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine graduates will demonstrate high personal standards of behaviour, maintenance of personal health and accountability to the profession and society, to ensure a commitment to the health and wellbeing of individual patients and society through advocacy and professional and ethical practice relevant to the Australian health care, aged care and disability care systems and associated legal frameworks.

Charles Sturt University Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine graduates will communicate clearly, effectively, empathetically and appropriately with patients, their families or carers, and other members of the patient’s healthcare team to ensure effective shared care which is safe, high-quality and person-centred.

Charles Sturt University Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine graduates will engage in evidence-based practice and critically monitor their actions through a range of reflective processes to identify, plan and implement their ongoing professional learning needs with the objective of continuous improvement, and seek opportunities to engage in peer learning and mentorship.

Charles Sturt University Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine graduates will provide safe, effective and high-quality professional services to patients and other service users, protecting patients, others and the environment from harm, and will be responsible for quality assurance, quality improvement and risk mitigation.
