Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
apply skills in clinical reasoning to justify an evidence-based approach to the assessment and management of diverse patients in need of podiatry care;
2.
communicate effectively to educate and promote intervention and prevention strategies with the patient, their carers and the broader community;
3.
practice in a manner that aligns with legislative and regulatory requirements and ensures patient safety is protected;
4.
analyse indications and key issues associated with the appropriate use of prescription and non-prescription medications relevant to a range of case presentations;
5.
comply with applicable professional standards, codes of conduct and guidelines relevant to prescribing medicines to inform evidence-based decisions in the context of the patient’s needs; and
6.
critically reflect on personal learning and the application of this learning to future professional practice.

Placement Duration 248 hours Details One 7-week WIL placement which may be EITHER an external community health service OR an external high risk foot public health service OR an internal clinic on campus.Final WIL internal consolidation placement - 90 hours.[Total 248 hours; 33 days WIL]
