This subject provides final year students with the opportunity to critically appraise and reflect on contexts and issues relevant to the contemporary practice of podiatry. Students will extend foundational knowledge of research to critically evaluate the value of podiatry practice knowledge. Critique of a range of relevant research methodologies will enable students to further develop skills in evaluating the evidence base. Students will have the opportunity to research a contemporary issue of relevance to the podiatry profession and will undertake a review of the literature. This subject will facilitate the student's communication skills through oral presentation of a literature review to a group of peers, academics and practitioners. The purpose of this subject is to facilitate skill development in the use of online databases, critical analysis of the literature and writing for research, to encourage students to consider their role as potential practitioner-researchers. This subject enables students to transition from the role of student to the role of new graduate podiatrist.
