Overview

The Graduate Diploma builds on the solid base for health management and leadership practice developed in the Graduate Certificate by focusing specifically on managing people productively, improving health care quality, governance and legal and ethical requirements, and also the financial management of health services.

Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:

Create an affirmative vision for tomorrow’s health services and strategies

Critically analyse management theory and its relation to health management

Critically analyse leadership theory and its relation to health management and leadership

Discuss how a health manager or leader may practice with resilience, efficacy and in an evidence-based way

Apply well-developed approaches to communication and collaboration within the context of health management and leadership

Critically analyse strategies for managing people productively

Discuss approaches and philosophies, tools and methods of analysis for improving health care quality or protecting health consumers and communities

Describe governance and legal and ethical requirements related the health management practice

Apply financial management practices to health services
11.
Develop a research proposal and apply research methods to a health management or leadership question (Research Pathway)
