Overview

The Master’s degree builds on the advanced health management and leadership practices developed in the Graduate Diploma. A number of opportunities for applying students’ health management and leadership practices are offered including, a supervised change project embedded in students’ workplaces, a supervised evaluation project that is also embedded in students’ workplaces, and a health planning project. The opportunity to prepare a report or publishable manuscript is embedded in these subjects. Students may also choose from a suite of elective subjects in order to support their current role or role aspirations.

Students enrolled into the research pathway have the opportunity to, under supervision, write a literature review, conduct research and prepare a publishable manuscript about their findings.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:

Discuss approaches and philosophies, tools and methods of analysis for improving health care quality or protecting health consumers and communities

Apply financial management practices to health services

Develop a research proposal and apply research methods to a health management or leadership question (research pathway)

Apply and manage the process of change management in health services

Alternative exit options
