Overview
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) aims to prepare graduates for practice as physiotherapists in a diverse range of contemporary healthcare settings, developing the distinctive capabilities required for practice in rural and remote, Indigenous and culturally diverse settings. The educational approach values diversity of student backgrounds and learning preferences, and partnership between students and staff to optimise learning outcomes.
The course emphasises:
- Physiotherapy, in all its breadth and depth, as a unique and important contribution to current and evolving healthcare practice.
- Development of values that underpin ethical and professional practice and global citizenship.
- Effective and respectful communication, using diverse modes and technology.
- The capacity and need to critically reflect upon and develop professional practice, engage in lifelong learning and contribute to the advancement of the profession.
- Building of effective relationships and trust through collaboration with clients, other health professionals and relevant stakeholders.
- A commitment to empowering self and others through education, leadership and advocacy.
- Professional judgement, self-management, flexibility and responsiveness to changing and diverse professional contexts.
- A commitment to excellence in physiotherapy practice that is based on sound reasoning and the critical application of research findings and other relevant evidence.
- The capacity to critically appraise, design and conduct research of relevance to physiotherapy practice.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:
1.
Practise as entry-level physiotherapists having met the Physiotherapy Practice Thresholds in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand
2.
Practise in a framework of collaborative practice using effective communication and relationship skills to meet client needs
3.
Adapt their models of practice according to the unique demands of the context including providing direct patient contact, advising and teaching others, and designing and implementing projects
4.
Practice in a diverse range of health care contexts and have specific abilities to practice rural and remote, Indigenous and culturally diverse settings
5.
Exercise reflective and critical appraisal of the practice of physiotherapy and to implement strategies to ensure optimal physiotherapy practice such as evidence-based practice, reflective practice and research
6.
Undertake research activities
