Overview
The Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management combines study in agricultural production and science with a variety of business disciplines, preparing graduates for entrepreneurial, management and leadership roles in the agricultural sector. The course is designed to provide a diverse range of career opportunities for graduates at any point in the agricultural supply chain, from within the farm gate through to export and marketing of agri-products, as well as within the industries that are associated with and service agriculture.
Graduates will have a strong foundation in agricultural business management by concurrently developing excellent skills in business, management and finance; and the scientific/technical aspects of managing agricultural production systems. They will be capable professionals who are skilled in agricultural practice and ready to take up management positions, and will have a strong capacity for analytical thinking, innovation and communication.
Admission and Credit
Admission
- A completed High School Certificate with minimum required ATAR or equivalent.
OR - A completed Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with an equivalent ranking to the currently listed ATAR
OR - A completed AQF Certificate III or higher level qualification.
OR - 50% completion of an AQF Diploma level qualification.
OR - A completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.
OR - Successful completion of two university level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies.

Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management students will be able to:
- demonstrate and apply skill in understanding written, verbal, visual and online information and the selection of communication strategies that are appropriate for the intended purpose and audience in a professional context.
- demonstrate the ability to create and share written, oral, visual, mathematical and statistical information using appropriate digital and non-digital tools to explain and communicate agricultural ideas, decisions and actions in a clear, persuasive, ethical and socially sensitive manner, to a range of audiences.
- demonstrate effective oral communication with audiences of various cultural, educational and social backgrounds
- develop and convey using alternative and appropriate means of communication, long term strategic business and annual enterprise operational plans to internal and external stakeholders.
Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management students will be able to:
- source, evaluate, summarise and contextualise relevant and credible digital information
- demonstrate digital literacy in appropriate applications
- create and share written, oral, visual, mathematical and statistical information using appropriate digital and tools to explain and communicate agricultural ideas, decisions and actions in a clear, persuasive, ethical and socially sensitive manner, to a range of audiences.

Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management students will be able to:
- know, accurately interpret and appropriately apply basic law, codes of ethics and regulatory frameworks to professional conduct.
- critically appraise the agricultural industry and its practice by engaging in informed debate in relation to ethics, equity, social justice and sustainability of the natural environment to contribute to the transformation of societal practice.
- define and develop an ethical and sustainable model of business processes and its relationship with the economic and financial performance and management of a business and its agricultural enterprises
- identify opportunities to improve or optimise an agricultural business in an ethical and sustainable manner
- understand that knowledge and values are socially constructed and recognise the benefits of understanding cultural diversity to the ethical and moral practice of agriculture as a global citizen
Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management students will be able to:
- develop the capacity to strategically manage and integrate all forms of capital within an agricultural business' operating environment
- develop and review the strategic direction of an agricultural business, identify and assess opportunities to improve financial outcomes
- review business outcomes relative to a business' mission and goals and recommend strategies for improvement
- develop and communicate marketing, operations, human resource and financial plans that align with the strategic direction of a business
Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management students will be able to:
- become independent and self-directed learners by seeking and employing feedback, self-evaluating through reflection and engaging with relevant communities of practice to enhance practitioner knowledge and demonstrate commitment to life-long learning.
- reflect on the development of personal capabilities and prepare a plan for personal development
- critically reflect on one's professional and personal activities in order to act as an agent for social justice improvement, particularly with regards to engaging in reconciliation with Indigenous Australians, their belief, values, culture and spirit of "country".

Structure
Students intending to work in animal enterprises are recommended to complete PSC360 Pastures and Rangelands as their elective. Students also encouraged to complete AGR220 Extension.
