Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

Be able to describe an agricultural value chain in a simple diagrammatic form from farm to retail
2.
Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the differences between vertical and horizontal integration in supply chains
3.
Be able to identify the various forms of information and associated communication flows that occur along a value chain and describe their purpose
4.
Be able to identify the key principles of marketing and supply chain management
5.
Be able to describe how Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems are integrated throughout an agricultural value chain
6.
Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of value chain analysis, the concept of market failure and identify examples of organisations established to support the functioning of an agricultural value chain
7.
Be able to identify the key non-financial drivers of a successful agricultural business
8.
Be able to identify, analyse and recommend a response to an external issue impacting an agricultural value chain
