Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to design and implement proactive and reactive strategies that inform classroom management plans;
2.
be able to describe positive school and classroom environments with reference to physical, social, cultural, emotional, and intellectual development, and explain their implications for learning and behaviour;
3.
be able to identify, apply and reflect on theoretical models to create effective learning environments and interpersonal relationships with children, parents/care givers and communities;
4.
be able to apply a clear knowledge of the legal and practical requirements designed to ensure student and teacher safety in the classroom;
5.
be able to plan and implement a variety of classroom management strategies to inform a sequence of lessons appropriate for a range of diverse learning needs; and
6.
be able to critically evaluate current educational theory, policy and personal experiences to formulate and revise professional teaching goals prior to, during and after professional experience.

Enrolment restrictions

This placement subject is available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) course and should not be before the eighth subject studied in the course.

This subject can be enrolled in concurrently with EPT455. However, the EPT447 professional experience block placement must be subsequent to the EPT455 embedded professional experience placement days which are completed at eight hours per week. The EPT455 placement is assumed knowledge for the EPT447 placement.

This subject has the following prerequisite requirements: (EEP427 or EED408 or EED502) and (EED409 or EED503) and (EML439 or EML530 or EMA410 or EMR408 or EMS406) and (EMM419 or EMM420) and (EMM209 or EMM418 or EMM410 or EMM503).

This subject is not available to students who have completed EPT432 or EEA406 or EPT510 as they share similar content.
