Overview

The aim of the course is to equip students with the latest advances in emergency management knowledge and practice. Students apply their knowledge through industry and community based project work which involves the conduct of risk assessments, development of emergency management plans, and the development of detailed emergency recovery strategies. Emergency Management lies at the confluence of a number of interrelated fields and to provide a complementary balance between research, practice and theory, in addition to core emergency management subjects, students also study elective components in GIS, climate change and environmental issues, building community resilience, and sustainability within the emergency/disaster context.
