Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to fluently read long vowelised passages;
2.
be able to distinguish between different types of words, phrases and sentences at a basic level;
3.
be able to formally analyse sentences at a beginner's level;
4.
be able to conjugate basic singular verbs in the appropriate tense, gender and person;
5.
be able to translate simple sentences into English; and
6.
be able to compose basic sentences using appropriate syntax and vocabulary.

Enrolment restrictions

Not available to students who have completed ISL461 and ISL160.
