Abstract
In this subject students build upon their resarch skills to undertake original independent research, under the guidance of research supervisor(s), involving critical evaluation of existing data and/or new data collection, analysis and interpretation. The student prepares a manuscript, based on the research undertaken, for publication in a peer reviewed journal.
Syllabus
This subject will cover the following topics:
creation of well-argued and critical exposition of a research problem and related methodology, methods, data collection and findings;writing literature reviews;planning and actioning research project projects; andsituating a specific research topic within the wider field of knowledge within health and medical sciences.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
undertake independent scholarship and/or research applicable to biomedical or health related sciences;
2.
analyse, interpret and present research findings;
3.
prepare a manuscript for publication in an appropriate peer reviewed journal in accordance with the journal's publication guidelines; and
4.
produce a research portfolio that includes, at a minimum, ethics approvals and other approvals as required and a manuscript written according to the guidelines of the intended journal.

Enrolled in the Faculty of Science and have successfully completed a Research proposal subject.
