This subject will cover the following topics:
Blood physiology / Haemostasis / Blood transfusion;Cardiovascular system;Respiratory system;Renal system;Digestive system;Water and electrolytes / Acid - Alkaline balance;Endocrine system;Digestive system;Reproductive system; and Development & growth / Genetics & heredity.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
describe normal physiology of the human body, including the endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, digestive and reproductive systems;
2.
apply knowledge of systemic physiology in the context of their discipline;
3.
interpret the normal interaction of body systems and the implications of disruptions to these systems; and
4.
demonstrate foundational skills in the use of scientific language.
Assumed knowledge
Foundational knowledge of basic chemistry, biochemistry, cells and tissues.
