Syllabus
This subject will cover the following topics:
Acute physiotherapy practice - burns; trauma; hand pain and injury;Rehabilitation physiotherapy practice - spinal cord injuries; occupational health; andCommunity physiotherapy practice - women and mens' health; advanced musculoskeletal care; lymphoedema management; aged care; disability.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
demonstrate critical reflection on professional practice and critically reflexive practice;
2.
critically evaluate ongoing personal and professional development in order to maintain and improve professional practice;
3.
advocate for physiotherapy that is supported by evidence based practice, including best available research evidence;
4.
analyse situations that are outside their scope of expertise or competence and take appropriate and timely action;
5.
justify physiotherapy options to manage a client's presenting problems;
6.
demonstrate adaptive, respectful and responsive communication (in all forms) to reflect the purpose, context, culture, literacy, ethical, legal and/or professional requirements of the task or interaction;
7.
create and present an effective digital presentation directed at physiotherapy colleagues; and
8.
locate, evaluate, use and integrate evidence-based information to inform decision making, and develop and guide their own knowledge, learning and practice.
Enrolment restrictions
Restricted to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy and the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours).
