<p>This subject equips students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes of developing pharmacy professionals to practice in an expanding health care sector. Students will explore cases based on an integrated approach to chronic and acute medical presentations. The subject emphasises the development of clinical reasoning skills to support differential diagnosis and a biopsychosocial approach to develop patient-centred treatment, including in specialised patient groups (e.g. paediatric), and management of acute and chronic health conditions. </p>

Communicate pharmacological concepts and therapeutic strategies effectively for common central nervous system, multisystem disorders, oncology and other specialised population related conditions (e.g. in paediatric populations) using appropriate scientific language and digital tools including in a team environment.

Evaluate the chemical and structural properties of therapeutic agents, including their pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, to justify their use in managing  central nervous system and other specialised population-related conditions.

Explain the biochemical and pathophysiological mechanisms underlying common central nervous system and other specialised population related conditions and correlate these with pharmacological targets and therapeutic strategies.

Design and assess evidence-based treatment plans for common central nervous system and other specialised population related conditions, incorporating pharmacological approaches, tailored to individual patient needs and considering cultural, social, and health equity factors.
