Handbook

In this subject, students will demonstrate mastery of a body of knowledge relating to the principles of research (research design, ethics, data collection, data analysis, interpretation and dissemination of findings). Students will apply this body of knowledge to the development of a practice-based research project that focuses on prevention, education and/or promotion of communication and swallowing issues, or speech pathology assessment and intervention. This subject will enable students to build on prior learning in order to further develop their research knowledge and skills. Students will develop a research design which is ethical, rigorous and promotes benefits for practice and consumers. Students will conduct and monitor a small research project, and analyse and interpret the study findings using rigorous qualitative and/or qualitative methods. This subject also provides students with the opportunity to disseminate research findings through a conference presentation to peers.
