In this subject, students explore clinical research as a component of professional practice. Students identify a speech pathology practice-based topic of interest, for which they search, analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources using an evidence-based practice framework. They then identify a specific gap in knowledge and develop a research question that could form the basis of a research project focusing on prevention, education and/or promotion of communication and swallowing issues, or speech pathology assessment or intervention. This process is self-directed but supported by the subject coordinator, learning materials and a collegial forum of peers.
