Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to demonstrate the approved use and articulate the justifications for the tactical options of: baton, tactical disengagement, Conducted Electrical Weapon (CEW), communication, contain and negotiate, firearm, oleoresin capsicum defensive spray, weaponless control and officer presence and active armed offender;
2.
be able to demonstrate the approved operational procedures and skills in a range of scenarios such as; high risk incidents, edged weapon defence, searching, handcuffing, bomb awareness, public order policing, building approach, motor vehicle stops ILVA, TECC/CRAPE and weapon retention; and
3.
be able to demonstrate the use of the Tactical Options Model and articulate the criteria of use for arms and appointments in decision making processes to apply such skill in reality based training scenarios.
Enrolment restrictions
Available only to students in the Associate Degree in Policing Practice. Students will require internet access.
