Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to apply STOPAR as a critical thinking framework in policing scenarios;
2.
be able to explain the principles of professionalism and decision-making accountability as they apply to policing in NSW;
3.
be able to explain NSW Police Force ethical standards as articulated in the Statement of Values, Code of Conduct and Ethics and the Oath of Office and other associated policies and apply these to policing scenarios;
4.
be able to identify the potential for corruption in policing and explain key corruption resistance strategies used within the NSW Police Force;
5.
be able to explain the crucial role of lawful discretion in the police decision-making processes;
6.
be able to explain the NSW Police Force Customer Service Strategy and how it applies to general duties policing;
7.
be able to apply the principles of effective victim care to a range of policing scenarios; and
8.
be able to use effective written and oral communication techniques appropriately in a range of policing situations.

Available only to students in the Associate Degree in Policing Practice.  Students will require internet access.
