Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
analyse the complex interrelationship between physiological, psychological, and emotional health in chronic disease;
2.
evaluate the impact of chronic disease on the person, family and carers, and the broader community;
3.
evaluate the impact of chronic disease e.g. diabetes, on foot health, mobility, and independence;
4.
analyse the principles of culturally responsive and culturally safe practice to enable optimal health and wellbeing outcomes for First Nations peoples living with chronic disease; and
5.
propose opportunities to work in partnership with a person, their family and carers, and other agencies to enable health promotion for chronic disease management.
Assumed knowledge
Students enrolling in this subject should have a foundational understanding of cultural humility, principles of communication and collaboration, and pathophysiology.
Enrolment restrictions
This subject is restricted to students enrolled in the Bachelor Podiatric Medicine or the Bachelor Podiatric Medicine (Honours).
