This subject provides an overview of the key concepts, tools, and techniques necessary for effective cyber incident response management. Students will learn how to detect, contain, and mitigate cyber incidents, as well as how to develop and implement an incident response plan. The subject will cover different types of cyber incidents, including malware infections, data breaches, and distributed denial of service attacks, as well as provide practical guidance on how to respond to each.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

describe the principles of cyber incident response management;

develop and implement an incident response plan;

collect threat intelligence to prepare for cyber incidents; and

manage cyber incidents through the various response phases including detection, containment and investigation.

Only available to students in the Bachelor of Information Technology and the Bachelor of Computer Science. Students from these courses must be invited by the Course Director to enrol in this subject.
