Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
describe and investigate information professions, information users, and the discipline and fields comprising library and information studies;
2.
investigate and critically analyse libraries and information agencies in their historical, social, cultural, economic, and political contexts;
3.
identify and explain ethical, legal and policy issues relevant to the information sector;
4.
apply IT skills to a range of contexts related to the information studies field and the roles of IT in enabling the management of information;
5.
compare and contrast how libraries and information agencies fit into constantly evolving information technology and infrastructure contexts;
6.
demonstrate comprehension of the diversity of library and information scholarship, including the professional and theoretical discourse of library and information studies;
7.
identify, evaluate and communicate about developments arising from major issues, questions and trends that define the information fields.
