Science has a distinctive way of observing and investigating to help us understand events and phenomena from the physical and natural world. Traditional, contemporary and emerging technologies can be shaped by the environment but may also shape the built environment in this rapidly developing technological world in which we live. This subject aims to extend teacher education students' understandings of science and technology through an integrated approach, by exploring how scientific discovery and invention, including the understandings and technologies of First Nations Australians, are applied and have an impact in everyday life. This includes issues related to the public perception of science and scientific ethics. Students will develop their skills in applying the processes of science, technology and design. They will question, investigate, develop ideas, seek solutions to problems and further develop their understandings of scientific and technological concepts. This subject provides opportunities for teacher education students to explore how people interact with their environment including the complex interaction of First Nations Australians with their environment.
