Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

be able to describe major theories of learning and development and explain how they apply to effective pedagogical practice;

be able to interpret research into how students learn and explain the implications for teaching and learning;

be able to explain the role of families, culture and community in child development and describe a broad range of strategies to engage children, their families and communities in the learning process; and
4.
be able to describe a range of evidence-based strategies teachers can use to address child issues and problems.
