Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
discuss critical issues on selected topics from the Islamic studies field
2.
demonstrate appropriate academic engagement and communication skills through interaction with a supervisor and multiple reviewers
3.
critically analyse and demonstrate in-depth understanding of literature relevant to the research question
4.
assess and use the best theoretical framework and research method for the research project
5.
apply advanced critical thinking, analytical thinking and research writing skills
6.
demonstrate independent research, organisational and written communication skills through the preparation and presentation of a substantial research paper on a topic related to Islamic studies.

Assumed knowledge

Students will need to have a foundational knowledge in Islamic Studies by completing other subjects on Islamic Studies before attempting the guided research.

Enrolment restrictions

This subject is only available to students enrolled in the Master of Islamic Studies or Bachelor of Islamic Studies (Honours).
