Veterinary Masters Dissertation

Abstract

This subject is undertaken over a minimum of one session and a maximum of two sessions and involves placement in professional practice. Students demonstrate the application of a body of knowledge and skills for research and scholarship in their chosen discipline/field of work. This subject involves placement in professional practice to systematically engage with research led/integrated practice and undertake and complete the clinical research project. Students develop advanced knowledge and research skills and apply these to conduct a clinical research project and produce a body of significant and original clinical research outcomes. Students will develop cognitive and technical skills to design, implement, analyse, theorise and communicate the clinical research, leading to significant original contributions to the discipline knowledge and professional practice. Students will produce a body of original research outcomes in the form of a dissertation for independent examination by external examiners.

Details The Workplace Learning (WPL) is undertaken at a veterinary enterprise which is relevant to the selected discipline and the research project. The duration of WPL is a variable amount and negotiated between the student and supervisors, with a maximum duration of 20 days (approx 160 hrs) distributed over the duration of the subject. The maximum duration of 20 days (approx 160 hrs) is 25% of the allocated time for the 32 point subject of 560-640 hours (the subject workload hours align with the CSU Subject Outlines policy of 140-160 hours/8 pts). The WPL is designed for students to undertake research in the context of professional practice and to develop capacity for research-integrated practice.
