Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to independently reflect upon and apply the key planning and design steps in research;
2.
be able to critically evaluate the requirements of a professional doctorate, including the role and responsibilities of research students and supervisors;
3.
be able to critically discuss an initial broad range of literature applicable to their research, and from that discussion draw research question(s) and a corresponding rationale;
4.
be able to articulate the social impact on, and social implications of, their research;
5.
appreciate the importance of transparency, accountability, academic writing standards, the ethics process and codes of conduct in research;
6.
have a clear understanding of the nature of research as a process of speculative inquiry; and
7.
be able to identify a research problem that is current and/or related to professional practice.
Enrolment restrictions
Students must be enrolled in Higher Degree by Research studies.
