Abstract
Through critical analyses of scholarly literature, students will identify significant researchable problems related to their discipline through a literature review and formulate a clear research question(s) that leads to the design and writing of a proposal for a feasible, small-scale research project using appropriate research methodologies and methods.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
Select and critically evaluate scholarly literature related to the discipline
2.
Examine ethical, social and political issues in relation to the students’ chosen discipline and determine their impact on research design
3.
Clearly articulate the research questions that give rise to the study and the issues that arise from its design and conduct
4.
Use initiative and judgment to conceptualise and propose a justifiable, feasible small-scale research project proposal with clearly articulated objectives
