Syllabus
This subject will cover the following topics:
Placement preparation;Applying and reflecting on communication skills;Appropriate professional behaviour in different contexts;Assessment and enabling strategies;Intervention planning and evaluation;Demonstrating very good reflection on practice;Ensuring portfolio provides evidence of competency development; andThis subject will include one six-week period of work-integrated learning placement.

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
discuss the complexities of occupational therapy practice;
2.
demonstrate appropriate verbal and written communication strategies;
3.
demonstrate appropriate professional behaviours and engage in reflective practice;
4.
plan and conduct formal and informal assessments of clients;
5.
design and implement appropriate and well-reasoned enabling strategies and/or occupation-focused projects;
6.
evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and projects; and
7.
demonstrate competency in occupational therapy practice in a professional setting.
Enrolment restrictions
Students must be enrolled in Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours).
