Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
apply advanced health assessment and clinical examination techniques to collate information from health consumers across the lifespan;
2.
integrate clinical reasoning processes with knowledge of relevant anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology to interpret a range of health and physical assessment data across the lifespan and identify priorities of care;
3.
analyse changing assessment priorities, techniques and findings for specific populations across the lifespan, including infants, children and older adults;
4.
apply advanced communication skills to obtain health information and effectively communicate assessment findings and/or care priorities to health consumers and members of the interprofessional team;
5.
analyse the impact of the rural and remote environment on the health of the consumer and care provision;
6.
evaluate social and cultural considerations to implement person-centered and culturally safe assessment; and
7.
apply relevant legal and ethical frameworks in the conduct of health and physical assessment in advanced nursing practice.
