Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
critically analyse current issues that affect the health and wellbeing of children globally, nationally and locally;
2.
compare and contrast evidence-informed strategies for promoting and maintaining child health and wellbeing at individual, family and community levels;
3.
apply evidence-informed frameworks, theories, and practices to enable children to reach their potential for growth and development;
4.
critically analyse the role of the family in child wellbeing;
5.
apply the International Convention on the Rights of the Child to professional roles including responsibilities for keeping children safe from maltreatment;
6.
analyse and acknowledge the impact of colonisation on the health and wellbeing of First Nations children and families and identify strategies to address the health inequities experienced by First Nations children and families; and
7.
critically evaluate their role in the interdisciplinary context of promoting and maintaining children's health.
