Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
describe their scope of practice as a student mental health clinician as reflected in the current National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce;
2.
apply both written and verbal communication skills in their clinical workplace learning context;
3.
understand how a comprehensive mental health assessment is used in clinical settings and apply it to practice;
4.
describe and apply the clinical formulation framework;
5.
identify and apply screening tools in mental health; and
6.
understand the impact of the cultural, psychological, physical, social, environmental, spiritual and political factors on people experiencing mental health issues.

  • Restricted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Restricted to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health).
  • Restricted to students enrolled in the Associate Degree in Health Science (Mental Health).
  • Restricted to students enrolled in the Diploma of Health Science (Mental Health).
  • Not available to students who have successfully completed MHP111.

Work integrated learning
