Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

be able to explain the cultural, creative and aesthetic values of literature and other resources;

be able to discuss the role of public library programs in supporting language and literacy development for children and young adults;

be able to explain a range of literacies;

be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of literature and resources, authors and creators, and genres and formats for children and young adults;

be able to utilise criteria to evaluate and select literature and other resources for children and young adults for programs and collections; and

be able to describe issues and concerns with the access and provision of materials in multiple formats for children and young adults.
