This subject applies the principle of transformative learning to provide an introductory exploration of education in a clinical health context. In this subject, students will explore the impacts of the clinical setting to evaluate strategies which address institutional barriers to the provision of effective healthcare education. Students will reflect on the role of the clinical educator and how this differs from other health professionals; identifying the key attributes and responsibilities that the educator requires to be effective in their profession. The principles of adult learning will be applied to real world contexts, emphasising the need for educators to adapt to diverse, individual learning needs of clinicians and students. Finally, students will learn about the clinical educator's role in the use of technology for clinical education.
