This subject offers an introduction to the theories and practice of professional and practice-based education (P&PBE). It emphasises that P & PBE is a whole of curriculum approach that can make use of a number of pedagogical approaches such as simulations, problem-based learning, as well as workplace learning (WPL). Good practices and issues associated with the Quality Agenda in relation to P&PBE will also play a prominent role in the subject. Workplace Learning as a part of professional education will be included in the subject, with sub topics such as quality, management and strategies for the incorporation of workplace learning experiences into academic curricula. This subject explicitly focuses on learning for professional and occupational practices that occurs in academic contexts. EEL504 Workplace Learning: Theory and practice has an explicit focus on learning in workplace contexts.
