Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics: Communication skills and professional behaviour;Collection, preparation and analysis of clinical data and/or specimens;Maintenance and promotion of safe work practices;Professional accountability; andReflective practice and portfolio development.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
Demonstrate problem solving and decision making skills within a laboratory.
2.
Operate independently and as a team member.
3.
Demonstrate written and oral communication skills relevant to the discipline.
4.
Describe the collection, preparation and analyses of clinical specimen or clinical data.
5.
Demonstrate knowledge of workplace health and safety and safe work practices relevant to the discipline.
6.
Demonstrate appropriate professional behaviour.
7.
Reflect on clinical experiences and maintain a portfolio identifying clinical/practical experiences and the learning that has taken place as a result of these experiences.

Student must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (Pathology)

Work integrated learning
