Syllabus

Industry ethics and expectations.Horse welfare and human safety.Environmental influences and stewardship.Career planning, skills development, goals and objectives setting.Professional development: communication skills, Australian Indigenous competency, professional practice, self-evaluation and reflection.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to justify their own and the behaviour of others in terms of industry ethics in relation to horse welfare and human safety;
2.
be able to identify and critically appraise personal and professional skills and career goals;
3.
be able to develop and demonstrate effective autonomous and team working skills;
4.
be able to problem solve within the industry context in the light of limitations and opportunities including Indigenous competency and as custodians of the environment;
5.
be able to tailor communications to different audiences as appropriate; and
6.
be able to assemble a workplace learning and professional development portfolio to an appropriate professional standard showing development, progression and reflective evaluation throughout.

Enrolment restrictions

This subject is specific to the Bachelor of Equine Science and Bachelor of Equine Science (Business Management).
