Abstract

The subject is designed to develop in students an understanding of extensive ruminant production systems as well as some of the more intensive aspects of production where relevant to particular species (excluding feedlots). It focuses on aspects of herd/flock management namely production efficiency, reproduction, market/profit drivers, husbandry and animal welfare.
