This subject will cover the following topics:
Veterinary appointments;Effective triage and history taking;Patient discharge and care;Veterinary drugs and poisons;Preventative animal health;Animal nutritional advice and support;Animal behaviour and related advice to clients;Common animal diseases and advice; andVeterinary accounts and inventory management.

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
demonstrate competency in triage, patient admission and discharge procedures;
2.
apply veterinary nursing knowledge to provide advice on animal nutrition, behaviour and reproduction;
3.
apply veterinary nursing knowledge to provide advice on preventative animal health, disease, and grief support;
4.
prepare and process clinic correspondence and maintain veterinary pharmaceutical and stock inventory; and
5.
prepare and assist with the provision of veterinary drugs and poisons within current veterinary practice legislation.
