The aim of this subject is to allow students to explore contemporary empirical and theoretical topics in psychology. Syllabus

The syllabus will be based on the current research interests of the relevant academic staff member(s) each year, and will focus on the core areas of the discipline and science of psychology as follows:Applied psychology (including educational and forensic psychology);Biological psychology;Clinical and health psychology;Developmental psychology;Experimental psychology; andSocial and personality psychology.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the theoretical and substantive issues relating to contemporary empirical and theoretical topics in psychology;
2.
be able to demonstrate effective research skills; and
3.
be able to demonstrate higher level critical analytic skills and the ability to produce an original and coherent argument.

4th year Psychology students only.
