In this subject students develop a working understanding of radiation biology and protection with development of knowledge and skills that translate to appropriate and safe clinical practice from a radiation exposure perspective. The subject contextualises theoretical concepts in radiobiology, health physics and radiation protection and, where appropriate, utilises applied mathematical concepts. Students are armed with the knowledge, skills and attitudes for regulatory compliant, ethical, safe and appropriate radiation practices.

Radiobiology; Interaction of radiation with biological tissueHealth physics; radiation risk, dose minimisation, radiation safety management and planning, and equipment safetyRadiation protection; legislative and regulatory requirements associated with radiation, and hazard identificationElementary quantitative models of radiation action and risk/dose minimisation.
