Abstract

This subject develops knowledge of the health and well-being perspectives of Indigenous Australian peoples. It will enhance understandings of the underlying historical, political, social, economic and cultural factors that contribute to Indigenous health in a contemporary context. It examines a range of social, cultural, historical, and institutional factors that impact on the contemporary health experiences of Indigenous Australian and non-Indigenous Australian peoples using a relational framework. It develops skills in critical thinking, reflection, and analysis for reflexive practice within the health professions.
