Abstract

This subject introduces the concepts of learning through facilitation. This is a practicum subject that requires students to put theory into practice during a 200 hour supervised professional placement. The subject provides students with an opportunity to apply learning and teaching theory and encourages observation, reflection and analysis of learning in various workplace and education contexts. This subject requires students to complete professional experience activities that can contribute to supervised teaching practice requirements for some workplace purposes. The practicum placement includes a minimum 50 hours of supervised teaching practice, observed and evaluated by a qualified teacher or educator; plus a minimum of 50 hours observing the teaching practice of others; plus a minimum of 100 hours of engagement in other professional activities, such as developing course and/or teaching materials, evaluating training, participating in assessment validation, mentoring students and/or peers, undertaking other professional development activities. Appropriate evidence demonstrating these requirements includes (but may not be limited to) verified journals, timesheets, minutes of meetings, course materials, reports, reviews, reference letters, etc.
