Syllabus
Disease recognition and diagnosis;Biology of organisms associated with plant diseases;Epidiemiology of plant diseases;Crop loss assessment;Principles of disease control and management; and Integrated pest management.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to demonstrate knowledge of both biotic and abiotic agents of plant disease;
2.
be able to demonstrate an understanding of the steps involved in diagnosing plant diseases and be able to undertake disease assessment in the field;
3.
be able to demonstrate an intimate knowledge of a select group of diseases relevant to their area of interest;
4.
be familiar with the full range of options for disease management;
5.
be able to demonstrate an understanding of integrated plant disease management.
