Syllabus
The STOPAR model of professional decision-making;Legal and policing issues underpinning larceny and associated offences;Legal issues underpinning domestic violence offences;NSWPF policies and procedures related to domestic violence offences;Legal issues underpinning traffic offences; andNSWPF policies and procedures related to traffic offences.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to apply STOPAR (stop, think, observe, plan, act and review) as a critical thinking framework in policing scenarios;
2.
be able to identify the elements of various offences;
3.
be able to explain and apply appropriate skills and decision making when dealing with various offences in practical scenarios;
4.
be able to explain and apply appropriate NSW Police Force policy and procedure, strategies and legislation to policing scenarios; and
5.
be able to demonstrate a satisfactory understanding and knowledge of key police powers and their application in an operational policing context.
