Syllabus

Applying and reflecting on communication skills;Appropriate professional behaviour in different contexts;Assessment and enabling strategies;Intervention planning and evaluation;Demonstrating very good reflection on practice;Ensuring portfolio provides evidence of competency development;Advanced fieldwork preparation; andThis subject will include one seven-week period of workplace learning.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
1.
be able to discuss the complexities of occupational therapy practice;
2.
be able to demonstrate appropriate verbal and written communication strategies;
3.
be able to demonstrate professional behaviour;
4.
be able to plan and conduct formal and informal assessments of clients with less supervision than required in OCC330;
5.
be able to design and implement appropriate and well-reasoned enabling strategies and/or occupation-focused projects;
6.
be able to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and projects; and
7.
be able to achieve a satisfactory rating for all competencies listed on the fieldwork assessment evaluation form.

Enrolment restrictions

Students must be enrolled in Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours).

Work integrated learning

Placement Duration 240 hours Details Applying and reflecting on communication skills;Appropriate professional behaviour in different contexts;Assessment and enabling strategies;Intervention planning and evaluation;Reflective practice;Ensuring portfolio provides evidence of competency development; andAdvanced fieldwork preparation.The 32 days of placement will be undertaken over a 7 week period.
