Abstract

Students will be able to formulate professional planning goals to consider how technology can be adopted to enhance aspects of a workplace. Students will spend one semester working on a technology training project evaluating the learning processes with a view to enhance an existing or future workplace context. The potential of applying a selected technology into the workplace will be reflected upon in light of theory, scholarship and professional practices. The type of technology training project will vary, with students in an existing workplace able to trial and evaluate a selected technology for implementation in their own context under the guidance of a workplace mentor. Students without an existing workplace context are required to undertake an analysis of a training program in a selected technology to enhance the skills, knowledge and professional practice that will be required for application to a future workplace context. Students who have completed at least 32 credit points of their Masters degree can enter EEB506: Professional Practice in Education and Training.

For this subject there is no set syllabus. The analysis of a technology training experience will differ for each student depending on whether they have an existing workplace context or are undertaking a technology training program to enhance a future workplace context.
Students with an existing workplace context can have the opportunity to work with a workplace mentor for the duration of the project.
At the conclusion of the technology training experiences, each student will be required to prepare a report and make a presentation of their findings of how the technology could be authentically used

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

be able to formulate personal professional planning goals through the consideration of how a technology can be authentically used, developed and integrated to enhance aspects of a workplace;

be able to analyse training situations in which a selected technology might be implemented and utilised in authentic, innovative or flexible ways;

be able to evaluate technology training processes to develop skills, knowledge and professional practice for application to existing or future workplace contexts; and

be able to reflect critically on theory, scholarship and professional practice to evaluate the potential of applying selected technologies into the workplace.

Assumed knowledge

Students are advised to have undertaken 32 credit points of Masters study prior to enrolment in EEB506.
