Abstract

This subject will expand upon the student's general understanding of pharmacology from their nursing education and work experience. Students will then apply further learning and knowledge from these principles to paramedic practice. Students will be introduced to medications used to manage various clinical conditions encountered in out-of-hospital settings. Students will provide provisional diagnoses of patient conditions, make sound clinical decisions, and safely administer medications to treat these conditions. This subject will enable students to identify possible drug interactions when considering medication administration.

This subject will cover the following topics:

Endocrine and obstetric medications, home and paramedic use; and

Knowledge and skills related to being a registered nurse.

Enrolment restrictions

Only available to students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedicine) or Graduate Diploma of Clinical Practice (Paramedic).
